“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” -Isaiah 60: 1-2
As I continue my walk with God, there is a part of me, at times, that wants to hear from God that I am doing what I am suppose to be doing. This news that I want to hear from God is not about receiving accolades for things I have accomplished, or acknowledgement so I may feel good about what I have done, I am just wondering…am I on the right path, has anything changed, am I growing in my knowledge of God and myself, is transformation even possible?
This morning I read the above scripture and these words that followed, “Immanuel heralds another season of new birth for you.” I don’t want to get too giddy here, but I am must admit…these words are amazing!! God’s glory appears over me! A new season!! New birth!!! Does this sound like transformation? Does this sound like maybe I am on the right path? I’m thinking so!!
The season of Advent is just around the corner. Christmas is only 6 weeks away. This season, this new season is just in time to celebrate a new birth, mine, and yours!! Yes, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus, but what if Christmas is also about our own birth, a new birth, that celebrates the power of God in our lives to make all things new, even me.
Jesus’ birth was herald by the angels “I am brining you good news of great joy for all the people, to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is the Messiah!” It is because of our Messiah that our new birth can be heralded.
Thank you God for your words of encouragement and joy today! Thank you Jesus for sharing your birthday with me! Thank you Holy Spirit for the gift of new life.
