Several months ago I had the opportunity to read these three scripture verses as part of my daily devotion from the book Jesus Calling (great devotional, if you don’t have it you should!):
“Do not let your hearts be troubled, Trust in God; trust also in me.” John 14:1
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14
“ …we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul.” Hebrews 6: 19
The devotion went on to say that these three; trust in God, waiting on the Lord, and having hope in God, are woven together to make a strong chain, with trust being the central strand that strengthens the chain as this is what God wants from us. When we trust in God, waiting and hoping follow.
The image of a woven, braided chain immediately came to mind for me. I thought “WOW, wouldn’t it be great to have a braided chain to remind me of this each day.” So I went looking specifically for a braided bracelet, as I wanted to be able to see it each day. I found two. One is a three colored gold bracelet that I got for $20 on amazon. It is perfect as I can always see the three colors that remind me to trust in God, wait on God and have hope in God.
The second is a black braided bracelet. The problem with this bracelet is that all three cords are black and at any given time when looking at the bracelet, you only see two cords. Where is the third!!!!? I want to be reminded to trust, hope and wait on God each day, and how can I when I can only see two cords? (sense the panic)
Well, another scripture passage came to mind as I pondered this dilemma. “We live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 My black bracelet is a reminder to me that my trust in God is blind, it has to be. The third cord is there, I just can’t see it, it is the central strand, the strand that strengthens the bracelet, and my waiting and hoping in God. The bracelet I originally thought was not going to make the cut, is the one that truly lives out scripture. The 3 colored gold bracelet, my cheater bracelet, I continue to wear as well, there are times I need to be reminded of all three.
Wait, hope and trust…and the strongest of these is trust.
p.s. If you are looking for a good devotional, I recommend Jesus Calling , by Sarah Young. If you cannot afford one, approximately $8 – $10 depending on where you buy it, please contact me and I will personally purchase one for you.

This is a great idea to have a 3 corded bracelet with Scriptures. It will remind me to trust God, wait on Him, and hope in Him. It would be great if we could customize the bracelets with our favorite Scriptures.
