The Bishop sent a chart with risks by county, based on number of new cases. Cherokee is in the orange zone which is next to the highest (red is the highest) and the DS John Pinson recommends that churches not be open if their county is in red or orange zones. It looks like that means we have to close again.
I sure hate to do this but I have been concerned the last two weeks because some, although they willingly wear the mask, are still not taking it seriously. Some pull down their mask when talking to someone. A few, although they are sitting socially distant, walk among the pews to talk to others and the first week, some were hugging.
I know this sounds harsh and I know everyone is so happy to be with others. I fully understand that. I also would like to be with everyone and get to know everyone. But church attendance is among the highest at risk categories. Even though I am in the vulnerable group, I am not really concerned about myself. I actually feel quite protected but I am concerned for the well-being of the church. We do not want an outbreak at FC.
